How Automatic Tyre Inflation System Works

How It Works

Airgo’s Automatic Tire Inflation System (ATIS) uses compressed air from the trailers reserve air tank system.  Our ATIS inflates any tire that falls below a preset pressure whenever the vehicle is in operation.  When a tire loses air pressure below the manufacturers recommended level, the ATIS automatically transfers air from the reserve tank to the ATIS Control Box unit. The Control Box controls the air flowing to each axle, Stator filter and Rotary Union depending on each tires air pressure needs. There will be one Rotary union installed per tire set and it will distribute the correct the amount of air to each tire.

Throughout the Trucking industry it is well known that the two biggest industry expenses are fuel and tires.  It is well documented in trade studies that tires are the second largest cost for the trucking industry.  Although tire cost is the second highest overall cost, it is the number one maintenance cost for trucking fleets.  Other trade studies have shown that tires account for over 50% of the en route breakdowns that fleets experience and for those tire related breakdowns 85% of them were due to improper or under inflation of tires.

In today’s economy it pays to implement changes that are cost beneficial to your company and changes that improve your "bottom line". Airgo's ATIS will provide a number of very positive benefits to your company, e.g., (1) freeing up maintenance or yard personnel for other tasks; (2) extend the natural life of your expensive trailer tires; (3) reduce road service calls for tire maintenance; (4) increase your fleet fuel efficiency: (5) reduce overall tire maintenance cost. Let us show you how Airgo's ATIS can do positive things for you.
